José Duato has been invited to present a keynote speech at the 7th International SoC Conference that will be held in November 4-5 in Newport Beach, California.

Over the past 6 years, the International SoC Conference has established itself as the prime annual event for System-on-Chip and VLSI. The Conference provides an outstanding platform for sharing and disseminating ground-breaking research, revolutionary product announcements, and innovative technical tutorials, and it has established itself as the forum for debating emerging challenges in System-on-Chip, VLSI, and nano technologies.

The 7th International SoC Conference, Exhibit & Workshops will be held in Newport Beach, California, and will offer two days of technical presentations, panel discussions, tabletop exhibits, tutorials, and a variety of technical workshops.

The GAP group has received this prestigious award by the Ajuntament de Valencia, about the project presented with title: “MEMSCALE:  La superdisponibilidad de la información”. 

José Duato, key contributor to the success of IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems

IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems (TPDS), the top international journal on this topic, celebrates its 20th anniversary. "This event comes at a time where the fi eld of parallel and distributed systems has moved from an interesting niche to the center of the computing universe. Internet systems, multicore, high-performance computing technology, international collaboratories....will provide TPDS topics for years to come” (Rudi Eigenmann).

The 20th anniversary is also an opportunity for thanking to past contributors to TPDS’s success.  The Editorial Note published in the January 2010 issue of TPDS takes care of this by listing the authors  with the highest number of papers published in this journal as well as the 10 papers with the highest impact. The most prolific authors are mentioned in the order decided by the number of papers (co)authored for TPDS. Using data provided by Scopus (in October 2009), the sorted list of those with at least four papers in TPDS starts with the following authors: S. Olariu (34 papers plus 2 editorials), J. Duato (34), K.G. Shin (32), L.M. Ni (26), A.Y. Zomaya (20),...

Contributions to the citation count for TPDS are also important as the related impact factor is normally used as a single measure of journal prestige. The list of the top 10 TPDS papers, by their citation counts, in Scopus (S) or Google Scholar (G), as of October 2009, also includes a paper by José Duato:

José Duato awarded winner of the "Premio Nacional de Investigación (Julio Rey Pastor) 2009"
The university professor and researcher of the Polytechnical University of Valencia, Jose Duato , has been awarded with the National Research Prize " Julio Rey Pastor" , in the area of Mathematics and  Information and Communications Technology.
Professor Duato has been recognized with this prestigious award by his excellent contributions of international relevance in the area of interconnection networks and by the transfer of these results to the industry, also having created a powerful research group with more than 100 researchers.
Several of the most powerful supercomputers in the world use his research results. He has filed several international patents in collaboration with top IT companies, and has significantly contributed to the extension of the HyperTransport technology, allowing an increase in the number of connectable devices from 32 to several thousands of millions.
